Dr. Sonia Valle is a 1996 graduate of State University of New York, College of Optometry, where she graduated summa cum laude. Dr. Valle knew her passion for optometry early in life and enrolled in Adelphi University’s pre-optometry undergraduate/graduate combined program with SUNY College of Optometry.
Upon completing her education, she did a residency program at the Veterans Affairs Hospital at Northport, New York. She specialized in an intensive program in Binocular Vision, Vision Therapy, Head Trauma and Stroke Related Neuro Optometric Rehabilitation, Low Vision Rehabilitation, and Primary Care Optometry.
She continues to serve the veteran population by working at the Northport VA Eye clinic since 1997. She also supervises students and residents that rotate through the program at Northport.
Dr. Valle joined the practice of Drs. Krieger and Podell in 1997. She brought her passion for optometry and expanded the vision therapy portion of the practice. She has given assistance to thousands of patients in vision therapy. In 2021, she bought the practice from Drs. Krieger and Podell and created Professional Optometry Vision Care.
In addition to vision therapy, Dr. Valle also has significant experience in glaucoma, macular degeneration, Lasik and cataract post-op care, and ocular surface disease.
Dr. Valle has spoken at school and PTA groups on identifying learning related visual problems. She is dedicated to advancing the cause of undiagnosed visual problems affecting children’s academic potential. She is a member of the local, state and national optometric association. She is a member of the College of Optometrist in Vision Development (COVD) and Beta Sigma Kappa.
Dr. Valle speaks Italian fluently and has acceptable knowledge of Spanish. She spends her free time with her family.
